Tetu MP aspirant Ann Kanyi is nursing

back and leg injuries and a knee dislocation after she was attacked by goons while on her campaign trail.

Her driver was also injured on both legs during the 5pm incident on Friday.

Kanyi, who is the only woman parliamentary aspirant in Tetu, was traversing the constituency when a vehicle with a gang on board blocked her way before escaping at Mbaaini area.

It is alleged that the gang was driving a Grey Fielder whose registration number was concealed.

The aspirant who is vying for the seat on a Jubilee ticket, said four men smashed her cars' windows, dragged her out and started assaulting her. They were later treated at Mathari Mission Hospital.

“When the car blocked me, four masked armed men jumped out and came running towards my car. Within three minutes I had been terrorized enough. It was like a movie. They dragged us out of the car and forced us to lie down after smashing the right back window with a metal bar,” the shaken aspirant narrated.

Kanyi said that the assailants did not steal anything from her but threatened to shoot her demanding that she drops her bid to vie for the seat.

She has recorded at Gachatha Police Post. No arrests have been made.

Tetu Deputy County Commissioner Herman Shambi has banned all night meetings in the area and assured Kanyi of her safety.

The attack comes a week after her meeting was disrupted at Gititu area by supporters of her rivals.

She cried foul over harassment and intimidation from one of the male Jubilee Party front-runners saying she feels insecure, being the only woman in the race.
