EACC detectives are looking for Homa Bay County Assembly clerk Bob Kephas who fled during a raid at his office on Wednesday.

Abraham Kemboi, head of EACC in South Nyanza region, said Kephas went into hiding when he got the wind that he was being hunted.

He is needed by the anti-graft agency to shed light on claims of misappropriation of funds at the August House.

On Wednesday, the EACC sleuths ejected principal accountant Maurice Amek from his office.

They proceeded to search his house at Sofia estate in the town in search for evidence to build their case against him.

Amek was confined for several hours before he was later released after the officers secured documents they needed for investigations.

They confiscated ownership documents of an irregularly acquired land worth Sh100 million among others.

The documents were found during a search at the offices of the two senior assembly officials.

The EACC official said they will not rest until they arrest the official who is on the run, adding that the latter has since switched off his phone.

"Our efforts to pursue him have not yielded fruits. His last location was Homa Bay town on Wednesday. I believe he will come back to the office," Kemboi said.

The detectives also went to Kephas rural home in West Karachuonyo, Rachuonyo sub-county.

"Kephas and others acquired massive wealth in Homa Bay since the advent of devolution," Kemboi said, adding that the lot are living beyond their means.

"He can run but he will not hide forever," Kemboi said.

"The clerk owns several properties alongside four homes in Homa Bay and Kisumu counties," he added.

Documents used for paying allowances running into millions of shillings were also seized during the search.

Documents of contracts awarded to the officer's relatives and friends, questionable mortgage scheme and car loan documents were also taken away.

Some included car log books, bank statements among others that will be used to build a case against those culpable of graft in the county.

Security was beefed up at the offices and homes of the two officials during the search.

Kemboi said those found culpable of graft will be prosecuted.
