A woman hacked a man to death in Eldoret on Thursday night after the two reportedly differed over a strenuous love affair.

The woman reportedly cut the man's head into two parts before she fled from the house at Rodi estate.

The man died instantly, prompting angry residents to torch the woman's house which is located in the same estate.

The woman, who was later arrested, lived in a separate house one kilometer away from the victim's house.

Eldoret West deputy police boss Tom Achiya said the woman is helping police with investigations on the matter.

"She was later arrested by citizens at her hiding place and will be charged next week having recorded a statement," Achiya said.

He said that they have information that the two have been having a troubled relationship though they were not married.

"They have been together for long though they lived separately," one of the neighbours said.
