Chairman of the disbanded National Olympic Committee Kenya Kipchoge Keino wants the law to take its course on the Rio Olympics scandal.

While addressing the press on Wednesday after landing at Eldoret International Airport from Rio, Keino said the government should get to the bottom of the matter by applying the rule of law.

He said investigations should have been done before the officials of the committee were arrested.

"The officials should not have been and detained over allegations. Investigations should be done without any rush," Keino said.

While saying that Kenya risk being banned by International Olympic Committee over the interference, he added that dialogue is the best way to go in solving some hitches.

"I think the best solution was to dialogue on how to solve certain issues and not disbanding the committee. This will attract IOC action and the young generation will be affected," he said.

Keino received Olympic laurel award in Rio, but the legendary athlete despite steering the country for the best ever Olympic performance said he is perturbed that he did not get a chance to go back to his office.

"It is very unfortunate that I was not able to go back to the office despite earning the country respect in the competition," Keino said.

He said Team Kenya is the responsibility of the country while on international competition and not a section of the sports body.

About the mishandled kits, he said some of the uniforms arrived late when the athletes had left while some sizes were very small and could not fit them.

"For example rugby team kit arrived late while other uniforms including sandals also came late as well as being smaller in sizes. The kit was in the Nock stores and there was no place it could have been stored," Keino explained.

"Let us build Kenya because we came with nothing and we will leave this world with nothing," he said as ululations rent the air when friends, relatives and students from Kip Keino School welcomed him at the airport.

Last week Cabinet Secretary for sport Hassan wario disbanded the committee and transferred its operations to Sports Kenya over myriads of issues surrounding the Team Kenya for the 2016 Rio Olympics in Brazil.

It ranged from poor handling of the team, Nike kit scandal meant for athletes, ticketing and taking joy riders in the contingent to Rio.

Already four Nock officials including Stephen Soi, James Chacha, F.K Paul and Fridah Shiroya have been charged in court over the matter.
