Oparanya hits back at Khalwale over anti-Raila remarks

Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya has told off senator Boni Khalwale over his remarks warning Cord leader Raila Odinga against imposing a governor candidate on the people of the county.

Oparanya said that though they belong to the same coalition, he (Khalwale ) should expect competition.

"I am not the type to be imposed on the electorate. I have the capacity, time and energy to seek votes from the people of the great county of Kakamega," Oparanya said in a statement on Monday.

Khalwale was quoted in the media warning Raila to stop meddling in the politics of the county.

He said: "Outsiders should not impose leaders on the people of Kakamega,".

But in a rejoinder, Oparanya who is also the ODM deputy party leader said Raila is free to market and popularise the outfit in the county.

Khalwale wants to be the next governor of Kakamega during the 2017 general election.
