Four GSU officers injured after al Shabaab attack in Lamu camp

Four GSU officers who were injured in an al Shabaab attack on Basuba GSU camp, Lamu County will be airlifted to Nairobi for treatment on Sunday. The four were injured on Saturdaynightwhen about 20 heavily armed al Shabaab militants raided the camp. Lamu county commissioner Joseph Kanyiri said the militants exchanged gunfire with GSU personnel for over 30 minutes before they were repulsed.

Four GSU officers who were injured in an al Shabaab attack on Basuba GSU camp, Lamu County will be airlifted to Nairobi for treatment on Sunday.

The four were injured on Saturday

night

when about 20 heavily armed al Shabaab militants raided the camp.

Lamu county commissioner Joseph Kanyiri said the militants exchanged gunfire with GSU personnel for over 30 minutes before they were repulsed.

It is not clear if there was any injury on the side of the attackers.

Security has been beefed up in the area following sustained attacks from the terror group.

Al shabaab has unsuccessfully ambushed officers within Lamu in the recent weeks but they are repulsed.
