Man who stabbed his father 18 times in court for murder

A man accused of killing his father by stabbing him more than 18 times did not take plea to murder charges in court on Wednesday.

The late Monica Amolo's husband, Michael Amolo, was in the head and neck in an attack on April 24.

Amolo was allegedly stabbed by his 25-year-old son, Michael Owino, following an argument over exams that he (the son) had skipped.

Owino did not take plea as Justice Jessy Lessit directed a second mental assessment.

Amolo was a paediatrician at Aga Khan University Hospital in Kisumu. Monica, who was Homa Bay acting ODM chairperson,

on February 10, 2015.

Amolo died on May 2 at Mater Hospital where he was admitted after the attack at Bandari Villas in South C estate, Nairobi.

Owino had been charged with attempted murder but this was changed when his father died.
