Kigumo residents have been warned to be alert over possible landslides due to the heavy rains in Muranga county.

MP aspirant Joseph Kamau Munyoro on Tuesday evening called on people residing near river banks to move to safer grounds and called on both levels of government to have disaster management teams ready in-case of landslides.

“We thank God there was no reported death and hope that no further destruction will be experienced by the people due to the heavy rains falling in the area,” he said.

Munyoro was speaking at the homestead that was partially destroyed and three cows buried after a landslide on Tuesday.

Muranga county governor Mwangi Wa Iria, Kigumo MP Jamleck Kamau and other local leaders are set to visit the affected families on Wednesday.
