Two people were killed and eight others seriously injured on Saturday evening after a train hit a
bus
ferrying workers home near Panorama hotel, Naivasha.
The injured are
being treated at Naivasha sub- county referral
hospital.
Naivasha Deputy OCPD Agnes Ojamong said
24 others who got minor injuries have been treated and discharged while those with serious injuries have been transferred to Federal hospital for further treatment.
“We have
three still admitted at Naivasha
Sub-county
hospital under a close doctor watch as they suffered more serious injuries," she said.
The
bus
belongs to
Avarta
company.
Police are looking for the bus driver who escaped after the accident.
The OCPD said the train heading to Kisumu hit the bus while crossing the railway line.
A witness Peter Muiruri said that the driver of the ill-fated bus was joining the nearby road when the
hooting
train hit it.
Muiruri said the bus was dragged for several meters as the workers screamed.
