Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria wants Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero and Kakamega Senator Bonny Khalwale arrested for what he termed “mobilisation of ethnic militia gangs”.

Kuria, himself facing incitement charges, yesterday said the National Cohesion and Integration Commission must instruct police to arrest the two leaders.

Kuria threatened to institute private prosecutions against Kidero and Khalwale if the NCIC does not act.

As the clock starts ticking towards the 2017 general election, this emergence of rival tribal militias is worrying, to say the least,” Kuria said in a statement.

If there was any doubt about who is the author of the script of ethnic militias in this country, that the two ethnic warlords are from the Cord coalition removes any such doubt.”

On Friday, supporters of Kidero and Khalwale clashed outside the Milimani law courts, forcing police to fire several shots in the air to disperse the rowdy crowds.

Kidero has filed a defamation case against Khalwale for linking him to the sleaze at Mumias Sugar Company.
