German tourist shot dead, boyfriend critically injured at Mlango Wa Papa, Mombasa

A German tourist was on Thursday afternoon shot dead and her Ugandan boyfriend seriously wounded by unknown gunmen in old town area in Mombasa.

Police said the German lady aged 28 and her Ugandan boyfriend aged 33 were confronted by two people, one armed with a pistol, who emerged from a building as the victims were walking along the street and shot them at point blank. The lady was killed instantly

with more than four bullets at close range by the gunmen who escaped on foot. The boyfriend was shot in the neck and rushed to Coast Provincial General Hospital in critical condition.

Nothing was stolen from the couple who had arrived today from Nairobi and were to stay in Mombasa for two days then proceed to Malindi.

Mombasa county commander Robert Kitur confirmed the 5:30pm shooting saying they are investigating the attack.

“We have received information of another unfortunate cold murder of a foreigner. But details remains scanty at this stage,” said Kitur.

was moved to a private hospital mortuary.

Kenya Association of Hotel-keepers and Caterer (KAHC), Coast branch Executive Officer Sam Ikwaye said that this was a major setback for the setback that had not revived due to insecurity threats in the country.

“This is yet another setback to the sector that has not yet revived due to insecurity threats in the country,” said Ikwaye

The tourist was shot just a few meters from where a Russian tourist was shot dead by gunmen a month ago.

Thirty-year-old Maria Tatyana was murdered as she was being shown around by a tour guide. No arrest has been made so far for the killers who are suspected to belong to local terror cells.
