Igembe South MP Mithika Linturi has withdrawn a motion to impeach Devolution Cabinet Secretary Ann Waiguru.

The motion was withdrawn following a breakfast meeting today by Jubilee MPs who had signed the petition to remove Waiguru and officers from the Devolution ministry at the Panafric Hotel.

The meeting was a safe exit point for Linturi and the MPs to avoid the perception that they may have been compromised into withdrawing the motion.

THE petition to have Devolution Secretary Anne Waiguru removed from office over claims of violating the constitution is set to be withdrawn today as Jubilee MPs meet at a Nairobi hotel to find an exit strategy.

“Every mechanism to have the matter withdrawn has already been dealt with and concluded and the members are satisfied, but there has to be a proper exit point so that there is no blackmail. There has to be an agreement on the way forward,” an MP privy to the developments said yesterday.

Already President Uhuru Kenyatta is

also set to address Jubilee MPs and Cabinet Secretaries in a retreat that is expected to address the simmering discontent between the two groups.

Yesterday, National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi directed the House Business Committee to determine whether the motion should be included in the business of Parliament. Muturi said the motion is credible and meets the basic requirements of the constitution.
