National Authority for Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse

chairman John Mututho is caught up in a fresh controversy with beer brewer Keroche Industries.

Yesterday, the brewer sent a statement condemning Mututho for conducting a counter-raid to a company Keroche had planned to raid over counterfeit products claims.

The brewer had obtained a court oder to raid the Thika-based company on Monday but Mututho showed up at the company on the same day and according to the brewer tried to shift blame.

They claim Mututho turned the tables on the company accusing it of manufacturing sub-standard products.

“Instead of allowing the police to do their work, Mututho sought to downplay our initiative, conduct his “raid” and instead of arresting the suspects, defended the suspected counterfeiters and attempted to shift blame to Keroche Breweries,” a statement by Keroche's Communications manager Edith Orwako said.

She said the “activities of John Mututho in Thika yesterday” are a mere stunt that seeks to protect counterfeiters while giving the impression that he is countering crooks.
