JOURNALIST Walter Barasa yesterday accused the International Criminal Court of manipulating him in seeking to implicate Deputy President William Ruto in crimes against humanity.

Baraza who is accused of corruptly interfering with witnesses in the Ruto case submitted yesterday before High Court judge Richard Mwongo that he was not willing to face a political trial at the ICC at the behest of the prosecution.

He told

Justice Mwongo that he is entitled to security until the ongoing cases against President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto are terminated or concluded.

“A Kenyan cannot be extradited to face trial in a foreign country where the trial is of a political character” lawyer Kibe Mungai submitted on his behalf. Mungai said the court should protect Baraza from being surrendered to the ICC where he

will be subjected to “a sham closed trial”.
