The Tuk-Tuk Operators Network has launched electric-powered tuk-tuks in Kisumu in conjunction with their technical partners, Alpha E-Mobility team.

The initiative done in partnership with the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), seeks to accelerate the shift to affordable and sustainable transport solutions.

The tuk-tuks will empower operators through affordable, reliable and modern mobility solutions, cut down emissions and help towns and cities breathe cleaner air.

The move aligns with President William Ruto’s call for domestic solutions to climate change.

In attendance were NTSA senior road safety expert Samuel Musumba, Alpha E-Mobility Kenya solutions manager Kinya Karangi, Tuk-Tuk Association Kisumu and Nyanza chairman Michael Mboya and Tuk-Tuk Operators Network chairman Vincent Were.

Kenya has an estimated 205,000 Tuk Tuks in operation, with numbers growing rapidly in urban centers.
