Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan
Tuya on Monday toured the Moi Forces Academy, a Kenya Defence Forces-sponsored
school located in Kamukunji Constituency, Nairobi.
The school is among the 18
pioneer Cluster 3 national schools in Kenya.
The visit coincided with the
handover of a school bus to the institution.
Soipan, in her remarks, reiterated
the Defence Ministry’s commitment to supporting education.
“KDF-sponsored schools are at the core of MOD's broad military
welfare strategy because of the important role they play in nurturing the
children of our soldiers, and indeed all beneficiary Kenyan children into
productive citizens,” Soipan said.
The bus was bought by parents in partnership with Moi Forces Alumni,
Nairobi, and the association.
During the handover, the CS engaged with the Moi Forces Academy
(MFA), Nairobi Junior and Primary School community during the handover of a
school bus donated by parents and the alumni association.
Present during the handover were Kenya Air Force (KAF) Commander Maj Gen Fatuma Ahmed, Deputy Air Force Commander Brig Samuel Kipkorir, Moi Air Base Commander Brig Bernard Oluoch, Chief Principal Mr James Maina and Head of Institution Jacqueline Okwaro, among other senior KDF and government officials.
