
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki inspected construction works at the Kenya Gold Refinery at Isughu, Ikolomani, Kakamega County.
The inspection happened on May 22, 2025.
The Kenya Gold Refinery is being constructed at a cost of Sh 5.8 billion by the Kenyan government through the National Mining Corporation, which is partnering with the private sector.
The project is 65% complete.
According to Kindiki, the factory will offtake gold from artisanal miners, provide jobs to the local community and pay royalties to the local community.
The construction of phase 1 will be complete by August 31, 2025.
This will be followed by the installation of equipment and actual operationalisation by May 2026.
