Medical interns who have been protesting outside Afya House since Monday braved Tuesday rains and vowed to continue keeping vigil amid biting cold weather.

The law requires them to undergo internship training for 13 months before they are licensed to practice but they are yet to be deployed.

Armed with umbrellas and some in raincoats, they vowed to stay put until their demands are met.

The group comprises dental, medical and pharmacy trainees.

They waved the Kenyan flag and sang the National Anthem as they marked the second night of their planned 60-day 'OccupyMoH' protest.

Capitol Hill Police Station OCS Jane Thuita pleaded with the medical interns to end their protest as the stipulated time for picketing was between 6am to 6pm.

However, the interns said they had no reason to leave as they had planned to stay till midnight.

They appreciated the OCS for her kindness by offering her and fellow officers shelter when the rains became unbearable.

The medical interns are demanding that Health CS Susan Nakhumicha addresses them at Afya House.

They said the protests will continue until they are issued with their posting letters as per the CBA 2017.
