Hundreds of medical, dental and pharmacy interns gathered at the Ministry of Health (MoH) headquarters on July 8 2024, to demand their immediate posting, citing years of waiting after completing their studies.

"We endured more than six years of gruelling medical school, sacrificing our lives to acquire life-saving knowledge and skills. Yet, the Ministry of Health is jeopardising our future," they said.

They said that they have been at home for two years now.

The interns claim that the ministry has failed to post them within the stipulated time frame.

The interns said their parents are deeply distressed, their families are under significant stress, and they are consistently queried about the commencement of their internships without any definitive answers.

They said they will occupy the ministry's headquarters today to demand clarity and resolution on their issue.

"Our parents are distraught, our families are stressed, and we are constantly asked when we will start our internships, but we have no answers. So we are here to demand those answers," they said.
