  • On Wednesday, the DP was seen carrying the coffin in which her sister laid as he took an active part in placing sand using a shovel to give her a befitting send-off.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Second Lady Pastor Dorcas Rigathi on Wednesday took a leading role in laying her departed elder sister Leah Wangari Muriuki to rest at Mirera in Nanyuki.

The DP had earlier mourned her sister as their mother and the family Matriarch who took good care of the larger Gachagua family after the death of their father and two mothers.

He further shared his deepest condolences to Wangar's husband, her children and grandchildren, saying it was a very difficult week for him.

"Today, we have laid to rest our eldest Sister Leah Wangari Muriuki, a great woman of remarkable record in the community and society," Gachagua said.

"A teacher & highly resourceful mentor, the Gachagua Family, the Gatata Family and the community at Mirera in Nanyuki will miss her wise counsel."
