The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Union called for the strike on March 14 to push for the implementation of their 2017 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
They accused the government of refusing to implement pledges therein including the posting of over 1,200 intern doctors and the provision of comprehensive medical cover for doctors.
Several mediation talks with both levels of government have failed to bear fruits.
