Incoming Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Winfridah Boyani Mokaya took the oath of office on Monday.
The event took place at the Supreme Court and was presided over by Chief Justice Martha Koome.
Koome officially gazetted Mokaya's appointment in a gazette notice dated March 19, 2024.
Mokaya becomes the 3rd Chief Registrar of the Judiciary of Kenya.
Mokaya beat six other candidates who had been shortlisted for the position.
Present during her swearing-in ceremony were a myriad of dignitaries including former Chief Justice David Maraga, Court of Appeal President, Justice Daniel Musinga and Labour and Social Protection CS Florence Bore.
Mokaya's predecessor Anne Amadi and Kisii Governor Simba Arati were also present.
"You have all the responsibility in the administration of justice, and we will give you all the support to deliver because the administration of justice will largely depend on the efficiency of your office," Court of Appeal President, Justice Daniel Musinga told Mokaya.
"Hon Chief Justice, I have no doubt that Hon Winfridah Mokaya Boyani will serve you, the Judiciary and the Country as a Chief Registrar of the Judiciary," Retired Chief Justice David Maraga said.
"As Cabinet Secretary for Labour, I partner a lot with the Employment and Labour Relations Court. I assure the Judiciary of my support to deliver on its mandate," Labour and Social Protection CS Florence Bore said.
"I urge you to be a champion of institutional innovation and revitalization, steering the Judiciary towards remaining fit for purpose and effective in a changing environment," CJ Martha Koome said while presiding over the swearing-in ceremony of Mokaya as the new CRJ.
"When all fails, the only solace is our court and we will work together to ensure our country is safe," Kisii Governor Simba Arati said.
