President William Ruto Monday met with Facebook Management Team at State House to discuss the monetisation of the Meta-owned platform
Ruto who met several content creators with officials from Facebook and Instagram's mother company Meta said he had gotten a commitment from the officials of the social platform. The President said this is a big step for digital content creators.
The Head of state added that the new development attests to the economic agenda which promises to give every Kenyan a chance to earn an income and transform their lives.
"In a few weeks, many of you will be eligible. Eligibility criteria will now be available for all creators in Kenya. That's a big step to make sure that our content creators have an opportunity to monetise their talent to give themselves additional revenue and I'm truly grateful to Facebook for walking with us on this journey," he said.
During the meeting, Ruto also urged the Meta team to have the process rolled out sooner if they can.
He said this would be a good surprise to many digital creators in the country.
