[PHOTOS] Kisumu county celebrates Valentine's Day

To mark Valentine's Day on Wednesday, the Kisumu county government through the tourism department organized a half-day celebration dubbed 'Lakeside Valentine's Celebrations to foster love and togetherness.

The event involved tree planting at the Impala Sanctuary early in the morning, gifting of flowers to locals within Prosperity Square, giveaways and ended with a special cake cutting session.

Chief guest of the event Kisumu First Lady Mama Dorothy Nyong’o said even as they celebrate today, young people should know and remember that love is not only about romance.

She took the opportunity to appeal to authorities to design modalities to combat rising femicide cases in the country.

Dorthy Nyong'o also noted that security is a collective responsibility of society and women should be protected for posterity.
