It was mixed feelings at the Milimani Law Court when Justice Grace Nzioka pronounced her judgment on the former TV presenter Jackie Maribe and her ex-fiancé Jowie Irungu over the murder of businesswoman Monica Kimani.
Kenyans were glued to their screens on Friday following keenly as Justice Nzioka read through the judgement.
Tension built up as the Judge was finalising the judgement.
For a case that has lasted for five years, justice had finally knocked on the doors of the family of Monica Kimani.
The court found Jowie guilty of the murder and acquitted Maribe.
After the verdict, Jowie became emotional as he tried to fight back his tears.
Justice Nzioka further revoked the bond application for Jowie and directed that he remain in custody until March 8, 2024.
However, the family of Maribe were delighted and all smiles after their daughter was acquitted.
Maribe referred the public to the Bible, urging them to go read the book of John 8:32.
"I don't need to say anything but I'll say go read John 8:32. For you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. Thank you," Maribe said.
