President William Ruto on Saturday launched the Mweru Umoja Irrigation Development Project.
The project located in South Imenti Constituency is targeting 500 acres to be used under irrigation.
Over 5,000 farmers will benefit directly from the project once it’s completed.
Farmers will be able to grow bananas, tomatoes, French beans, sweet potatoes and kales.
The development of irrigation projects is expected to play a key role in achieving food and nutrition security.
