A  multitude of Kenyans on Tuesday morning turned up at Uhuru Garden to commemorate Kenya's 60th Jamhuri Day. 

President William Ruto is expected to lead the celebrations.

A total of 30,000 people are expected to attend the celebrations. 

Entertainers like Terence Creative, Les Wanyika the Band and Inspector Mwala had already arrived at Uhuru Gardens for the celebrations.

Jamhuri Day is a national holiday in Kenya, celebrated on 12 December each year.

Jamhuri is the Swahili word for "republic" and the holiday officially marks the date when Kenya became an independent country on 12 December 1963.

This was six months after gaining internal self-rule on June 1, 1963, from the United Kingdom.
