President William Ruto on Friday held talks with the Managing Director of Operations of World Bank Bjerde Anna on the sidelines of the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Dubai.
Ruto said Kenya is honoured to play a lead role in the climate change agenda.
"The Summit that Nairobi hosted in September significantly changed the narrative on Africa’s potential.
"We will keep lending a voice — together with institutions such as the World Bank — on the crisis to improve the health and livelihoods of millions of people in the world," he said.
Ruto is one of the leaders set to deliver a speech on behalf of Africa at the Conference of the Parties (COP28) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
In a statement, the head of state will highlight the continent's priorities and build on the historic African Leaders Nairobi Declaration adopted at the inaugural Africa Climate Summit held in Nairobi in September 2023.
Ruto will deliver the statement in his capacity as the Chair of the Committee of African Heads of State and Government on Climate Change (CAHOSCC).
