Cabinet Secretary for Transport Kipchumba Murkomen on Monday presided over the National Tree Planting Day in Mombasa.
The CS who was in Mikindani stated that the 10,000 trees that are to be planted in Momabsa will help the county reach the target of 15.9 billion trees under the National Tree Growing and Restoration Campaign.
"I feel immensely privileged to be part of this nationwide tree-planting day here at Mikindani and speak to the great people of Mombasa," Murkomen added.
The exercise aligned with the Presidential Programme for the Accelerated Restoration of Forests and Rangelands.
"This is a key component of the country’s efforts to build climate change resilience and reduce greenhouse gas emissions and restore 10.6 million hectares of deforested and degraded landscapes through the African Landscape Restoration Initiative that was launched on December 22, 2022," Murkomen added.
