The much-awaited Africa Climate Summit started on Monday at KICC in Nairobi bringing together delegates from all across the world.

With dignitaries seated as early as 8 am, President William Ruto who is the host officially opened the summit a few minutes to 10 am.

Cabinet Secretaries, members of the National Assembly, Senate and county assemblies all attended the event.

President Ruto gave his keynote address and welcomed all visitors to Kenya.

This is the first-ever climate summit co-hosted by Kenya and the African Union.

For eight hours, President Ruto will hold bilateral meetings from 11 am to 7.30 pm.

Som of the key people he will meet are Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo, UN secretary general Antonio Guterres and Vice-President of Cote D'Ivoire Tiemoko Meyliet Kone among others.

Outside KICC, hundreds of delegates and dignitaries have flocked to the registration and accreditation centre at Charter Hall even as the African Climate Summit started.

The delegates and dignitaries were in long queues as they struggled to make their way to the accreditation centre.
