Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday extended his arm of compassion and threw a party for children in his Mathira home.
In a statement, Gachagua said he was in his Nyeri home and being a rejuvenating Sunday, he decided to reconnect and interact with his neighbours.
"Their simplicity and forthrightness is real and refreshing; it was a wonderful way to prepare for a busy and crucial week as our President William Ruto hosts the high-level Africa Climate Summit in Nairobi starting tomorrow (Monday)," he said.
The former Mathira MP said that the neighbours' children visited him to greet him and touch base and he decided to throw a party for them.
The DP said that he wished he had more time to spend with the inspiring children but they agreed to have another similar day in December.
"It was an exhilarating moment of listening to the dreams of these charming gentle giants. Indeed, they have huge aspirations, big dreams, and hope for a bright future," Gachagua added.
Earlier that day, the DP took his signature morning walk to visit his only surviving aunt Gladys Gathoni in Mathira.
He said it was always a joy to be in his home village.
"I woke up early today and took a long walk to visit my only surviving Aunty Gladys Gathoni, for blessings, advice and wise counsel," the Deputy President said.
