President William Ruto on Thursday opened 39th AGM of the Trade Development Bank Group in Nairobi.

He noted that Africa needs a development financing institutional framework that can handle this unprecedented opportunity effectively and deliver transformations in terms of integration through connectivity, economic development and climate resilience.

Ruto added that the Trade and Development Bank has demonstratedto us that it has been studying the African development landscape, and evolving to meet its challenges.

As a result, it has been growing and evolving steadily.

Ruto added that the bank has since experienced a ten-fold expansion of its asset base, and is active across global financial markets including New York, London, the UAE, China, India and Japan.

The Bank also has a commanding footprint across the continent, with presence in Mauritius, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as its headquarters in Burundi.
