The situation in Kisumu is calm as Kenyans brace for the second day of Azimio protests.

Most schools were open but minimal activities happening inside the compounds.

The streets were empty with most shops remaining closed.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga called on his supporters to protest against the high cost of living.

The protests which began on Wednesday will last until Friday.

The protesters in turn hurled stones at police.

More than 300 people were arrested across the country during the anti-government protests on Wednesday.

Interior CS Kithure Kindiki said cases of lawlessness happened in parts of Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Migori, Homa Bay, Siaya and Nakuru.

He said those arrested will be charged with crimes including looting, malicious damage of property, arson, robbery with violence and assaulting law enforcement officers.
