Ruto affirms Kenya-UK ties as he witnesses King's Coronation

Says strengthening of relations will quicken Kenya's transformation.

President William Ruto has affirmed that Kenya values the cordial relations it shares with UK. 

He passed the message in a tweet during his visit to the UK where he traveled to witness the coronation of King Charles III.

"We believe it is through the broadening and strengthening of our relations with the international community that we can accelerate the transformation of our country," he said.

Ruto was among world leaders who attended the Coronation of King Charles III.

The event was held at Westminster Abbey on Saturday and was the first of its kind in the UK in 70 years.

The Coronation began at 11:00 BST (1300hrs) and ended at 13:00 (1500hrs), with the main theme being the importance of service.

During his first prayer at the abbey, Charles vowed to serve.

"I come not to be served, but to serve," the King said.

Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto were received by flower children and Kenyans at UK upon their arrival in London.

Other leaders in attendance were US First Lady Jill Biden, accompanied by granddaughter Finnegan.
