Information, Communication and Digital Economy CS Eliud Owalo on Saturday met former Councillors drawn from the Luo Nyanza region.
During the meeting held at his Asembo home, the CS and the former Councillors explored areas for further engagement, as well as useful entry points.
They also looked at areas and issues that have led to the region lagging behind development-wise.
"Our interaction was a very useful eye-opener, both ways. Working with these leaders promises to be very beneficial, as it taps into institutional memory that is usually ignored.
"Their understanding of the development needs and challenges at the grassroots is invaluable for our development planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation," Owalo said.
The meeting saw over 110 former councilors converge from Migori, Homa Bay, Kisumu and Siaya counties.
The former leaders were also apprised of the Kenya Kwanza government’s development agenda and the role they could play in it.
Some of the former Councillors present during the meeting were; Nyanza Chapter chairman, Joseph Ogut-Awala, former councillors Benjamin Okan’g Tolo, Caleb Ouko Calo, Benta Auma, Ogalo Ondeje, Okinyi Rao, Risper Ogunde, John Orata, Elizabeth Ogola and Benson Ogutu, among others.
