President William Ruto held a consultative meeting with workers' representatives led by Central Organisation of Trade Unions secretary general Francis Atwoli on the welfare of workers.
The meeting was held at State House, Nairobi, on Tuesday.
Ruto said their discussions touched on the need to employ more youth, the welfare of diaspora workers and making workplaces safer and more dignified.
The delegates also looked into the unions’ role in the affordable housing project and Universal Health Coverage.
Ruto said trade unions are engines of change that drive policy making.
He said unions contribute to equality and inclusive socio-economic development in the society.
"We will continue engaging and partnering with them to create synergy and ease resolution of labour-related issues," he said.
