Health CS Susan Wafula on Wednesday held a consultative meeting with doctors in an effort to avert a looming nationwide strike.

The meeting brought together officials from the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists’ Union (KMPDU) and the Council of Governors health and labour committees.

Various pending issues that cut across both levels of government were discussed and the road map towards their resolutions was escalated.

The CS expressed confidence with the progress of the discussions so far.

Doctors threatened to withdraw their services if the demands of their 2017-2021 CBA remain unmet.

The union has decried stalled implementation of the agreement by the ministry of health, the county governments and parastatals in the health sector.
