Ruto lead the national celebrations to commemorate 58 years since Kenya became a republic, at the Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi.
Leaders present were Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his wife Dorcas Gachagua, Prime Cabinet secretary Musalia Mudavadi accompanied by his wife Tessie Mudavadi among other leaders.
They were seen coming from State House walking on a red carpet going towards the venue of the lunch.

The Jamhuri Day celebrations are held annually to commemorate the day Kenya became a republic.
Kenya was granted self-governance by the British colonial regime on December 12, 1963, a year before the country gained independence with founding leader Mzee Jomo Kenyatta as Head of State.
