Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki on Thursday donned rare police combat gear as he led the charge against bandits.
The CS who toured Wajir and Isiolo counties also wore elite police tactical boots and vest during the tour.
He was accompanied by Deputy Inspector General of Police Noor Gabow and top police and security bosses.
Kindiki has recently scaled up his security trips across banditry-prone areas to assess security challenges and make interventions to enhance security.
On Thursday, Kindiki ordered for the immediate recruitment of 200 National Police Reservists to be deployed along the borders of Wajir and Isiolo counties.
He also directed the vetting, training and armament of chiefs and their assistants in the area to help with maintenance of law and order.
Addressing residents in Wajir, he also directed the formation of 20-member council of elders drawn from both counties to formulate initiatives for lasting inter-community peace.
