President William Ruto on Friday presided over the Association of Pension Trustees and Administrators of Kenya stakeholders meeting.
He also launched the Sanduku Initiative which brings together the pensions sector, insurance firms, Saccos, cooperatives, and Islamic finance institutions to support the government’s affordable housing plan.
The function took place at the College of Insurance in South C, Nairobi County.
While giving his address, Ruto revealed his plan of transforming the Kibera slum into an estate.
He said through the ongoing affordable housing programme, he is focused on ensuring the livelihoods of the dwellers in the informal settlement are changed.
The dream, he said, will only succeed through the cooperation of such willing stakeholders.
He said 5,000 housing units were already under construction in the area with a similar number set to be launched progressively.
