New Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale took over office from Outgoing CS Eugene Wamalwa on Monday.
Duale said he is ready to take over from where Wamalwa has left off and thanked him for the good work he has done in that sector.
"I expect a smooth working relationship as I carry out my mandate during my time as the Cabinet Secretary. I thank outgoing CS Wamalwa for his dedication and commitment to serving this Country before me," Duale said in his address.
The Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces General Robert Kariuki Kibochi was also in the handing-over event.
Duale has promised to fight for the KDF's welfare to enhance the country's role as an anchor for peace in the region.
He said under his leadership, the country will continue to modernise and equip KDF to guarantee territorial integrity.
“I will ensure that KDF maintains high levels of professionalism, loyalty, trust, integrity, discipline and respect that will hold us to project a positive image of the force at all times,” Duale said.
