Mohammed Amin was on Wednesday sworn in as the next Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss.
The swearing-in ceremony was presided over by Chief Justice Martha Koome at the Supreme Court in Nairobi.
Amin who served at the Internal Affairs Unit of the National Police Service said he was happy to be back home at the DCI.
"Most of my time has been in the directorate and I'm happy to be back home," he said.
He pledged to work with all strategic partners to ensure that they deliver on the mandate of the directorate.
Ten candidates were shortlisted for interviews for the DCI position.
