Kenyans woke up early to attend president-elect William Ruto's inauguration at Kasarani stadium in Nairobi.

2,500 VIPs are also expected to grace the occasion at the 60,000-capacity stadium.

Gates were opened as early as 4 am and Kenyans were expected to be seated by 7 am.

At least 17 presidents, eight prime ministers and deputy presidents and seven foreign ministers are expected to grace the ceremony.

Ruto will be sworn in as Kenya's fifth president. They will be sworn in together with his deputy Rigathi Gachagua.
