[PHOTOS] All set for presidential election petition at Supreme Court

The Supreme Court has finalised preparations to handle a petition on the just-concluded presidential election should any be lodged at its registry.

Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga on Tuesday said he will be heading to the apex court to challenge the declaration of his competitor William Ruto as the president-elect.

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chairman Wafula Chebukati on Monday declared Ruto as the winner of the hotly contested election after garnering 7,176,141 of the votes, an equivalent of 50.49 per cent.

Raila got 6,942,930 votes translating to 48.85 per cent.

Security has been beefed up at the Supreme Court of Kenya ahead of the expected petition on the presidential election results.
