[PHOTOS] Learners back home for mid-term break

Learners from schools countrywide are back home for their mid-term break in their first term of the 2021 education calendar.

On Thursday, bus stops and stages were full as parents and guardians picked their children for the short school break.

The break comes sooner than most parents anticipated with some decrying expenses that arise from traveling, shopping and feeding children while at home while they could have continued with their studies after being at home for longer than usual as a result of Covid-19.

Schools are to resume for the second half of the term on Monday .

Institutions reopened fully on July 26 after learning was halted in March last year due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.

The first term of 2021 saw the first of the Grade five cohort, under the Competency Based Curriculum begin learning after three months of waiting.
