Medical Services Principal Secretary Dr Ouma Oluga on Monday visited the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA).
The aim was to familiarise himself with the agency’s operations and reaffirm its strategic role in the country’s health system.
Dr Oluga was received by KEMSA Chief Executive Officer Dr Dulacha Ejersa Waqo.
He later held a consultative meeting with the Board of Directors.
Oluga emphasised the need to restore public trust through improved transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency.
“KEMSA plays a critical role in ensuring commodity security—one of the four foundational pillars of the health sector, alongside human resources for health, healthcare financing, and digitisation,” he said.
The PS urged KEMSA to strengthen its governance and supply chain systems to support the Ministry of Health’s commitment to delivering quality and equitable services under the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) programme.
