Suspected thug shot dead in Mlango Kubwa, pistol recovered

A suspected thug was Tuesday night shot dead and a pistol was found on him in Mlango Kubwa area, Nairobi.

Police said the suspect was in the company of two others and that he was wanted for a spate of robberies in the area.

Police identified him as only Vinnie and had been on their wanted list.

The suspect was found with a Retay Falcon pistol loaded with two rounds of 9mm caliber.

Also recovered are five spent cartridges. According to police, the suspect fired at them before he was fatally injured.

The hunt for the other two who escaped is ongoing, police said.

Meanwhile, a man was arrested after his girlfriend was found dead in their house in Karuri, Kiambu County.

The man told police he came back home on Monday with the deceased Janet Wangui Njenga, 36, and had supper prepared by his mother and they retired to bed.

When they woke up on Valentine’s Day, the woman was unresponsive and lay motionless.

Police were alerted and visited the scene where the deceased body was found while on semi sitting position on a sofa set, with bruises on her back and lower limbs but without any major visible injuries.

Police said they are interrogating the man for more information.

The body was moved to Kihara Level Four hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.
