Kenya records 1% Covid positivity, 44 new cases, two deaths

Kenya on Sunday recorded 44 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country's case load to 252,672, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The CS in a press briefing confirmed that this was from a sample size of 4,238 recording a positivity rate of one per cent.

The cumulative tests stand at 2,673,705..

Kagwe said that there are 496 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,365 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

Twenty-seven patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 12 of whom are on ventilatory support and 15 on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.

Another 164 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with156 of them in the general wards. 8 patients are in the High Dependency Units (HDU).

Meanwhile, 247 patients have recovered from the disease with 200from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program while 47 arefrom various health facilities countrywide.

Total recoveries now stand at 246,274 of whom 198,948 are from the Home-Based Care and Isolation program, while 47,326 are from various health facilities countrywide.

VACCINATION

As of October 23, a total of 4,930, 336 vaccines had so far been administered across the country. Of these, 3,504,400 were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 1,425,936.

The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 38.7 per cent. Proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 5.2 per cent.

The Government is working towards vaccinating a targeted population of 27,246,033.
