Kenya records seven deaths, 400 new virus cases

Kenya on Tuesday recorded 400 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country's case load to 186,453, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The CS in a statement confirmed that this was from a sample size of 5,068 recording a positivity rate of 7.9 per cent.

The cumulative tests stand at 1,989,066.

The country's fatalities have risen to 3,697 after another seven  patients succumbed to the disease on diverse dates.

Kagwe said that there are 1,133 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country. Another, 5,387 patients are on the home-based care programme.

A total of 113 patients are in ICU, out of which 30 are on ventilatory support.

Also, 185 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 163 are in general wards and 22 in the HDU.

Meanwhile, 354 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 259 were from the Homebased care program while 95 were discharged from various health facilities.

Kenya's recoveries now stand at 129,165.

The CS said 1,495,120 people have been vaccinated countrywide. Of this, 1,020,120 are first doses while 475,000 are second doses.
