Nine succumb to Covid as 73 more recover

Kenya on Sunday recorded 283 new cases of Covid-19, bringing the country's case load to 179,075, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has said.

The CS in a statement confirmed that this was from a sample size of 3,452 recording a positivity rate of 8.2 per cent.

The cumulative tests stand at 1,904,519.

The country's fatalities have risen to 3,456 after another nine patients succumbed to the disease on diverse dates.

Kagwe said that there are 1,106 patients currently admitted in various hospitals across the country. Another, 5,488 patients are on the home-based care programme.

A total of 99 patients are in ICU, out of which 32 are on ventilatory support.

Also, 117 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, out of which 107 are in general wards and 10 in the HDU.

Meanwhile, 73 patients have recovered from the disease out of which 61 were from the Homebased care program while 12 were discharged from various health facilities.

Kenya's recoveries now stand at 122,704.

The CS said a total of 1,183,376 people have been vaccinated countrywide. 

Distribution of new cases by county; Nairobi 88 cases, Kisii 33, Uasin Gishu 26, Kisumu 24, Mombasa 19, Siaya 15, Homa bay 10, Busia 10, Nandi 10, Meru 7, Kilifi 6, Kakamega 6, Nakuru 5, Narok 3, Kiambu, Kwale, Machakos, Taita Taveta and Bungoma 2 cases each.

Murang’a, Nyamira, Nyeri, Bomet, Lamu, Turkana, Vihiga, Elgeyo Marakwet, Isiolo, Kajiado and Kericho 1 case each.
